MANUAL CARTON FOLDING JIG AND ASSIST SYSTEM
Product Overview

The Manual Carton Folding Jig is an ergonomic, non-powered workbench fixture designed to assist operators in quickly, precisely, and repeatedly folding corrugated paperboard boxes. By utilizing guide rollers, mechanical stops, and angle guides, the fixture holds the carton flat in alignment and assists with initial flap creasing, reducing operator hand fatigue and increasing packing speed.

Dimension Definitions & Capacity
The fixture is adjustable to accommodate various box footprint sizes. The key dimensions and their meanings include:

Internal Envelope (𝑳×𝑾):
Meaning: The inner clearance area defined by the main rectangular aluminum frame and rollers. This determines the maximum/minimum length and width of the folded box base that can fit into the jig.

Guide Rail Height (𝑯):
Meaning: The height of the angled upper entry rails. This controls the angle at which flat carton blanks are fed in to pre-crease and guide side flaps upward into the box shape.

Corrugated Board Thickness Capability

25 ECT (Edge Crush Test): Single-wall corrugated board (typically B-flute or C-flute, approx. 3 mm thick) suitable for standard lightweight to mid-weight packaging.
32 ECT (Edge Crush Test): Industry-standard single-wall corrugated board (approx. 4 mm thick) offering higher stacking strength and stiffness for heavier items.
Note: The roller gaps and guide clearances on this fixture are designed to process both 25 ECT and 32 ECT board without crushing the fluting or causing binding.

Key Features & Operational Benefits

Adjustable Work Envelope: The aluminum extrusions feature slideable bracket mounts to quickly reconfigure the inner footprint for different box SKUs.
Flap Pre-Forming Angle Guides: Dual angled upper rails allow the operator to push the flat die-cut blank downward, instantly bending the side flaps upward to 99°.
Low-Friction Roller Guides: Smooth cylindrical rollers protect the printed/coated surface of the corrugated board from friction marks during manual insertion.
Ergonomic Design: Reduces repetitive stress on the operator's wrists and hands during high-volume box setup operations.

Mechanical Behavior: During the initial deformation stage, the cardboard crease has not yet undergone plastic deformation (permanent setting). The effective lever arm is long, resulting in primary elastic bending strain across the material.
Engineering Solution: The primary (top) roller eliminates sliding friction by replacing it with rolling friction at the initial point of contact. This substantially reduces the activation force required to initiate the bend.

Mechanical Behavior: As insertion deepens, the angle of curvature increases significantly, causing a sharp rise in normal forces and potential sliding friction drag along the contact surfaces.
Engineering Solution: Positioning a secondary (lower) roller at this critical point creates a dual-contact rolling interface. This design prevents friction binding and material buckling, ensuring smooth, low-effort transition into the fully formed 90∘ box profile.
